Ensuring appropriate guarding is in place for your robotic cell is a crucial element of any automation project as guarding is usually the control interface between man and machine, therefore guarding and robot safety should always be considered at the start of your project and our engineers and automation specialists can guide you through this process.
Requirements for guarding robot cells can vary considerably, depending on the robot and the task being performed. Physical perimeter guards are the standard for ensuring robot safety, though light guards, laser area scanners and pressure-sensitive mats can be appropriate for use. Other types of guarding that are occasionally adopted include camera-based system and roller shutter doors.
Active8 Robots has access to all the latest technologies and therefore we have the capability to look beyond standard perimeter fencing to vision-based guard systems. This electronic and programmable perimeter guarding systems includes three video cameras mounted overhead in the work cell, which can detect when someone enters the hazard zone. This system then sends a signal to the robot to slow down or stop.
